spring break vacation recap

We vacated the homestead at nine in the evening in the midst of a snowstorm two Fridays ago for a mostly relaxing week in The Great Smoky Mountains! We stayed in Gatlinburg at Mountaintop Mansion. It’s a chalet in the Gatlinburg Falls Resort community. Loved it! Wanna do that again! I think it was perhaps the most relaxing time I’ve had on vacation in…well, ever. Terry’s brother’s and sister’s families and friends were along. This means cousins Maggie loves to play with were there, and therefore, Maggie took a vacation from ringing my servant bell every five minutes. So, that in itself was quite a break for me.  I promise you, five minutes do not go by normally when Maggie isn’t making food and drink requests. Must be a growth spurt. It’s a growth spurt, right? Right? Not a personality trait!! Hhhhhhhhhhhokay, I’m fine…

We were completely thrilled that our friends the Anthonys also were in Gatlinburg for spring break! That made the trip even better! We hit the Tanger Outlets one day. Went out to eat a couple of times.  –I stayed true to my diet all during the trip, by the way.   But, for those of you keeping up, I have been chasing the same 2.5lbs around for two solid weeks without cheating on the Atkins plan. Last night was day one of week 8 on Atkins, and I am taking a break. I plan to be NORMAL for at least a week. Then see what happens from there. I think I will return to Atkins either on Easter Sunday or on Sunday, April 30th. Depends on whether weight starts climbing really fast or not. I am hoping that by taking a short vacation from my seven weeks on Atkins that when I start back I will once again drop a ton of weight in the first two weeks, and that this will shake me out of this plateau I’ve hit. Okay, now, back to the vacation debrief:   The Anthonys and 3 out of 4 Malones went go-carting, etc. But, I was tired and go-carting is not my cup of tea. So, I had ‘em drop me back at the resort for some solitary rest and relaxation. And, that was nice, too! Later that night we all played pool and video games. I’ve read books. Crocheted.  Spent time staring at the mountain range from our wrap around deck venue. It was wonderful! Jessye and Terry went horseback riding. That was a first for Jess.  We walked around downtown Gatlinburg, in and out of quaint little shops.   Now, of course, no Malone family vacation would be complete without it’s meltdown. There was one. But, we survived it.  Anyway, all in all it was a really terrific trip. I’ll download some pictures from the trip when I can.

Entry filed under: the daily grind.

minus two pounds OVERNIGHT! eArthQUaaaAAaake!!

Hey girl. Glad to see this most recent post. We need to chat. I noted an early a.m. call from you today – Joe and I were “secluded” for a couple of days enjoying time together while Chetch is in FLA.

Yup – spring break WITHOUT us. She is having a ball. We are trying to get used to our college-bound gal NOT being here 24/7. Sure is a lot to get used to, but we are adjusting.

Graduation in less than 9 weeks. Gee!!!

You are right on about kicking that diet back in gear. Taking a short break usually does it for me. I have been STUCK on a similar plateau. I stepped away from my diet in the last few days. I’m kickin’ it back up tomorrow, hoping for a similar jumpstart. But I’m happy with results so far. I’m praying for a much thinner me by graduation!

    Miss ya!
