daddy daily volume 5

Yesterday Daddy fell asleep during his speech therapy. He was unusually sleepy. The nurses sent him for a CT scan. It came back normal. But later in the day his pulse rate was taken and discovered to be very low. So, they sent for his cardiologist. He’s in atrial fib. again, and his pulse rate is too low. He IS on something to keep his pulse rate lower than it would be because it’s not good to be in atrial fibrilation with a fast pulse rate. But, yesterday it was lower than it should have been as a result of that med.

So, his cardiologist had him transferred from the rehab center up to ICU stepdown floor. Then, within the hour the intensive care doctor had him transferred to ICU so they could monitor everything best. Daddy was not at all pleased with the notion of a catheter again after he’s been able to get up and go to the bathroom with assistance.  And, therefore, as ususal, his anger fueled MUCH clearer speech than what we normally hear from him.

The nurse in ICU let me stay for awhile, but finally sent me home. Daddy was more calm by the time I left. Not that I had anything to do with it, because I don’t know that my presence calms him much, actually.  Nothing does once he gets that upset. It’s like he can’t hear anything I say when he’s mad anyhow.
