daddy daily volume 19

Nurses on Daddy’s floor moved him to a room closer to the nurses station last night because he was “sooo restless”. Mama said there’s no telling what all the words “so restless” really meant. I hope Daddy didn’t show out too bad. But, anyway, I’m glad they’ve moved him closer to the nurse’s station. That’s great.
The neurosurgeon has pulled all calmative type drugs and all pain killers except Tylenol so that we can actually see what Daddy’s able to do and how he’s able to function. They have removed his catheter and will begin working towards using a urinal. And they will begin working with him on standing up as soon as he’s able. So, time will tell as far as how much progress he’ll be able to make. We’ll just keep praying and encouraging and talking to him.
Meanwhile a case manager and social worker are on board now to help get Daddy the very best placement possible, and will help with answering insurance questions, too.
The neurosurgeon has told Mama that we are NOT in a hurry to get him out of the hospital. He wants him to be as strong as possible. But, as I pointed out to Mama, in order to ensure that we are able to get placement in a good facility, it could come to a place where if they have a room available at a good skilled nursing facility, we don’t want to MISS getting that room, either! A week can make a difference in availability. Well, a day can, can’t it? So, I just don’t want us to get ourselves to a point where we end up not being able to have him right here close to us when the time comes for skilled nursing.
But, I’m trying not to go “borrowing trouble”. It’s just more “wait and see” stuff.

I just hope one is available close to the family. That would be really good if one is needed. I will look forward to hearing how he is performing without the medication. Thanks as always for the update.
