Graveside services for Louie A. Malone, 84, were Wednesday at Twin Oaks Memorial Garden, Southaven. Malone was a retired civil service worker for the Memphis Defense Depot. He died Monday, June 30, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born July 1, 1923 in Moreland, Ark. to the late Robert and Addie Malone and was a member of Southaven General Baptist Church. He retired from the Army after more than 23 years serving during both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He received four bronze stars for his service in Normandy, North France, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Mr. Malone, the widower of Kiyoko Malone, leaves two sons, Arnold Malone (Sharon), and Terry Malone (Tracey); one daughter, Mary Blount (Danny), all of Southaven; two sisters, Jessie Blake, Dardanelle, Ark. and Ella Rea Vandiver, Conway, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Mandy Blount-Fuchs, Marie Blount, Mary Ann Blount, Danny Robert Blount, Matt Malone, Michael Malone, Jessye Malone, and Maggie Malone; and two great grandchildren, Hayleigh Malone and Morgan Ising. Any memorials may be made to the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford or the Alzheimer’s Association.
