daddy daily volume 31

Daddy has a room reserved for him now at the other nursing facility further south. Mama’s already asked about furniture and how much they’d be able to bring in. The owner said she believes that both of Mama and Daddy’s recliners will fit in his room without any problem– in addition to the hospital bed, for which the new home will take care of making arrangements to get.  Daddy can be moved into the new place on October 1st.  For the purpose of still being within the 100 days that are covered free  by medicare, he has to be out of the place he’s in now by October 3rd, I believe.  So, there is a certain amount of closure and comfort (what little is possible) over having arrangements made for the move. A new place for him has been secured. It’s good to have that part taken care of.

We have since learned that Medicare will not pay for ambulance transport. And it will cost like $250 plus $8 a mile. So, Mama says we’re NOT doing that. The staff where he is said they do NOT recommend taking him in a car. They asked Mama if she new anyone with a van. (Well, of course, Terry and I have a van.) So, we may end up transporting him down there. We’ll just have to see.

But, anyway…his psychiatrist came in. They’ve upped his dosages of Ambien and a calmative that he may have as needed has been prescribed. Additionally, his medicine for helping with anxiety and upset episodes has been increased from two times a day to three times a day. And Aricept will now be given in the morning instead of at night. Last night Mama got home about a quarter til 5 and then got a call about 5:20 from the nursing home saying that Daddy was out of control and no one could even get near him. So, she went back to try and help calm him down. He was non-stop talking. Insisted that everyone there is trying to kill him and that he wished he would just go ahead and die so that none of them would have the satisfaction. Then he said there was a fight with two girls and a guy, and that he was trying to break it up, but then they had all ‘turned on him’.   After that he explained that he knew there was a conspiracy to try to get him sent to the penitentiary.

Mama said that Daddy talked a blue streak all night, but pretty much the only thing she could make out was when he would talk about everyone trying to kill him. The rest was murmuring and indiscernible words.  They gave him Ambien and a calmative. Before she left she asked him if he thought he would be able to sleep now, and he said that he would. And, he told her that she should try to get some sleep too.

She asked him if he’d like to pray together. He said yes he did. So, they prayed together.  At first Daddy was unable to verbalize well enough to pray, so he that he said that he didn’t think he could. Mama assured him that God knows his heart. And she prayed. Then Daddy said he wanted to try again. And he did pray that time. He thanked God for his family. He thanked God for being so merciful. And he prayed for forgiveness…in Jesus’ name; amen.

What a “God Wink” to have His peace in the storm of life with a prayer like that. Greater is He that is in us than is in the world. Many prayers are lifted for you and yours with much love and concern.

Thank you Tracey for the update. I do understand that having a place for him in a great location and good home brings some relief to the family. May the Lord continue to be with all of you.
